@charliefrenchfineart is taking over our blog and weighing in on his favorite brushes. Can you guess which ones are his favs?

Every serious artist knows that the tools you choose MATTER. Every stroke is intentional, every texture has a purpose, and the brush in your hand can make or break the final outcome. Whether you're painting abstracts, fine art, or giant murals, choosing the right paint brush is vital.

At Zibra, we design artist brushes that are made to move with you. Our high-quality bristles, ergonomic handles, and thoughtfully shaped heads are built for the kind of bold, intentional work professional artists do every day.

But don’t just take it from us. Check out what artist Charlie French thinks:

“There are a few Zibra brushes I really like, but my favorite brush in the whole world is your round brush. Recently I used it to make alliums in my abstract flowers paintings. I also like dragging the brush down a canvas (some of my vases), and for strong mark making (I chose it for my Firework abstract last weekend). I also use it to make big squares on canvas…sometimes on top, and sometimes underneath as a base coat…but I use water spray and blue shop towels to blend. I like its marks and how it feels in my hand.”

If you’re an abstract artist, the Zibra Round Paintbrush gives you control and freedom. It’s perfect for layered marks, fluid shapes, and building texture with intention. It offers a kind of versatility that artists keep reaching for again and again.

But it’s not just the round brush getting all the love.

“I also like the Palm Pro. It is comfy. I use it for smaller paintings and paper paintings.”

Our Palm Pro Brush is beloved by muralists and studio artists alike for its comfort and control. Its unique grip makes it ideal for long painting sessions, especially when working on smaller-scale pieces, paper, or canvas board. We recently launched the Palm Flex, which is a version of the Palm Pro, but with a flexible rubber handle for increased comfort!

“Last, I like the small and medium squared brush…this is for following my marks on a canvas. I like the two sizes because my marks can be thin or thick.”

Why Zibra Brushes for Artists?

Our brushes aren’t just functional, they’re an extension of your hand. That means:

  • Professional-quality bristles that hold paint without clumping or fraying
  • Innovative handle designs for maximum comfort and control
  • Shapes made for expressive techniques, from loose layering to detailed linework

If you’re a working artist looking for the best paint brushes for professionals, Zibra brushes are designed with you in mind. They’re the go-to tools for abstract artists, fine art painters, and DIY creators who care deeply about their craft.
