The Zibra Story

We started with the goal to design and develop products from a customer’s perspective - products that make life easier and more enjoyable. At Zibra, our everyday objective isn’t to compete by making a “better” product but a “new kind” of product, truly solving consumer problems. We don’t limit ourselves by product categories but instead look for opportunity in everyday life, ways to rethink products that haven’t been reengineered in tens or hundreds of years. 🖌️

The Zibra Journey

  • 2004- Zibra (pronounced zee-bra) began in North Carolina in 2004 - founded by CEO Mike Sherman.
  • Mike saw a gap in the paint application industry & set out to change that.
  • 2005- Our propriety filament (that hasn't changed and still use to this day!) & our patented round-shaped handle became the official Zibra signature.
  • 2006- The launch of the Open It! Before paintbrushes, the 4-in-1 multitool was born, making it the FIRST official Zibra product.
  • 2006- shortly after, the first line of Zibra brushes were created & ready to take the painting world by store.
  • 2007- quickly known for their long crisp paint pulls, Zibra made it into it's first major retail store- Home Depot!
  • 2007- Paintbrushes & Open It made their FIRST national tv debut on Rachel Ray! The traction only continued and there were many more tv appearances to come...
  • 2012- Zibra was placed in our second national retail chain- Lowe's!
  • 2019- this small business grew into a family business. Mike's two daughters Brie & Zia moved back home and joined the Zibra crew.
  • 2025- over two decades later and we're still pushing boundaries, innovating, and tapping into new markets. There is still so much to be done & we're so glad you're along for the ride!
