This is the third version of Open It we have bought. Very handy and helpful tool, especially now that we order many things coming in cardboard boxes. The first two Open It’s broke at the same place - the slide that holds the handle together. The new one I notice is made differently - a slide on both sides. It does seem sturdier that way. Also the cover over the razor blade is an improvement, instead of a separate piece that comes off. Picture is versions 1 and 2 being held together with rubber bands. Lol. They are still great cutters, and I’m bad about throwing out things!
I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for this tool. I was already enjoying the utility of the The Ultimate Gadget for opening boxes, blister packs, and cutting plastic ties, but I had no idea it could be a lifesaver as well. Our dog was on the line for a few minutes in the yard when I looked to check on him and discovered that he had gotten totally wrapped around a small branch and was literally choking to death. The collar was too tight to get off. I ran in the house and grabbed the Utility Gadget that we keep by the front door. I realized that I could get the tip of the Utility Gadget under his collar without cutting him and was able to cut through the leather collar. Our household gives the Ultimate Gadget our ultimate endorsement and thanks!
Great, I’ve used it for several things both inside the house and in the yard! Plant trimming, pvc cutting and other miscellaneous uses! Came in very handy for Christmas decoration clean up in and out! Glad I got it as a Christmas present!

At age 64 1/2, my hands simply take a beating when I try opening boxes and plastic-wrapped packages. Open It - The Ultimate Gadget has solved that problem, and now there isn't a package I can't open easily! Not only does this tool easily open up those plastic packages that are dangerous to get into, but it also has a retractable utility knife at the end of one handle with a safety cover and a tiny Phillips/flat head screwdriver at the end of the other.
You can also use it in the garden. I just finished trimming my rose bush and herb garden with it and will be using it to shape a bush in my front yard this morning.
I'm all about efficiency and multi-purpose items - especially quality, well-engineered ones. Whoever thought of this all-in-one gadget is a genius!
